Balance bike tuition – ditch the stabilisers

£25.00

Pedal Ahead! can help you with personalised one-to-one balance bike tuition.   A balance bike is the best way for a child to learn pre-pedalling skills including balance, locomotion and coordination.  Children who have a balance bike will learn to pedal quickly and more easily than children who have a bike with stabilisers (also known as training wheels).  Ditch the stabilisers and get your child on a balance bike.

One hour of teaching for your child with Pedal Ahead! in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham.

Balance bike tuition – calm, patient, personalised

Most children will learn to use a balance bike without too much help.  At this session we will work on improving the following:

  • body position and posture – especially the head, shoulders and upper body – which are essential for learning to pedal
  • balance
  • coordination of the feet and lower legs, in preparation for learning to pedal
  • speed – a child who can consistently scoot on a balance bike at a good speed will learn to pedal quicker
  • direction – on a balance bike a child can go in any direction they choose but it’s important to be able to make the bike go in a straight line in preparation for pedalling.
Self-belief

Working on these things will improve your self-belief, and also your confidence.  Please see our FAQs page for more information on what will happen at your Pedal Ahead! cycling tuition class.

We can also teach cycling tuition in small groups of two or three, which helps to share the costs.

It’s best if you bring your own bike and helmet to your cycling tuition class.  If you don’t have one or can’t borrow one then you may be able to hire one for a small fee from our friends Cycle South Brum, in which case you will need to make arrangements with them to collect and return it, usually on the same day.  Please mention Pedal Ahead! when you contact Cycle South Brum.
