Does your child need help getting ready for Bikeability? Pedal Ahead! can help you with personalised cycling tuition at our preparing for Bikeability bring-a-friend class.
One hour of teaching for your child and a friend with Pedal Ahead! in Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham. We will give your child one-to-one tuition on Bikeability level 1 and level 2 outcomes to give them the best possible chance of passing. Children normally do Bikeability at school in year 5 or 6 but we can teach level 1 from age 5 as long as your child can consistently pedal 10 metres without help and without stabilisers.
Cycling tuition – calm, patient, personalised
Pedal Ahead! instructors pay time and attention to the things that are holding you back from learning to ride. These things will vary from person to person, and may include:
- body posture, especially the head, and also the chest and shoulders
- positioning of the feet and lower legs
- balance, which is something that everyone can improve
- locomotion skills
- start technique.
Working on these things will improve your self-belief, and also your confidence. Please see our FAQs page for more information on what will happen at your Pedal Ahead! cycling tuition class.
It’s best if you bring your own bike and helmet to your cycling tuition class. If you don’t have one or can’t borrow one then you may be able to hire one for a small fee from our friends Cycle South Brum, in which case you will need to make arrangements with them to collect and return it, usually on the same day. Please mention Pedal Ahead! when you contact Cycle South Brum.
You may also wish to book our additional 15 minute session on How to safety check your bike, which we can teach at the same time as your first cycling tuition session, either at the beginning or at the end.
