Payment in advance is required for all cycling tuition.

Parents/carers and children

Where the learner is a child under 16, the parent/carer is expected to stay for the session.  We politely request that parents/carers watch the lesson but do not interfere with our instructors as they teach the child.

Cancellation policy

If you cancel with more than 24 hours notice then we will normally carry your payment forward to your next booking. In exceptional circumstances we will refund you. If you cancel with fewer than 24 hours notice then no refund can be given.  and your payment will be carried forward to your next booking, less a £5 administration fee.

Weather policy

If poor weather is forecast then we will keep an eye on the weather forecast and endeavour to keep you informed of whether or not we expect to be able to go ahead. Things that might cause us to cancel include:
– very heavy rain
– snow
– heavy frost
– ice
– very strong winds.

Personal belongings

You are responsible for the personal belongings of your group and we cannot accept responsibility for loss or theft.

Safety

We teach in a small number of select locations. We have undertaken written risk assessments on each location and will dynamically risk assess the location in terms of weather, surfaces, other activities, on each lesson to ensure that you/your child are safe. Our instructors have first aid qualifications and carry a first aid kit, although the risk of your child suffering a major injury as a result of cycling in the park is very low.

As part of our terms and conditions you agree to abide by the following when you sign up to cycling tuition with us: “By making a booking with Pedal Ahead! I agree that I and any children or adults on whose behalf I am booking, will take responsibility for their own health and safety, and the health and safety of others, and to follow reasonable instructions issued by Pedal Ahead! tutors regarding health and safety.”

Privacy

We will Respect and Protect any personal data that you give us such as phone numbers, names, addresses, email addresses, in connection with your booking. If at any time you wish to stop receiving communications from us we will remove your data from our records.

Safeguarding

All of our instructors are fully trained,  DBS checked, and first aid qualified.

Bicycle roadworthiness

At the beginning of each cycling tuition session our tutor will do a safety check on your bike to ensure it is safe to ride.  We will carry out minor adjustments only if time allows and if equipment is available (e.g. we will usually carry a small bike pump, and Allen keys/spanners for adjusting saddle heights and minor adjustments to brakes).  If the bike needs more work on it we will inform you.  If the bike is dangerous to ride and we have to terminate the session then we will issue you with a voucher to use for your next session, less a £5 administration fee.

We expect as a minimum that your bike has two pumped up tyres (as firm as an apple when pressed with the thumb) and two working brakes (the bike stops when being pushed and the brake levers are engaged).
